Discover Tsavo: Kenya’s Largest and Wildest National Park
Nestled between Nairobi and Mombasa in Kenya’s Coast Province lies a true giant of African wilderness—Tsavo National Park. Covering nearly 22,000 square kilometers, Tsavo is the largest national park in Kenya and one of the largest in the world.
Divided by the old railway line into Tsavo East and Tsavo West, each side offers a distinct safari experience:
🌄 Tsavo East National Park
- Size: 13,747 sq.km
- Landscape: Flat, open terrain dominated by dry plains and the winding Galana River.
- Highlights: Marvel at the expansive Yatta Plateau, one of the world's longest lava flows, and the dramatic Lugard Falls.
- Access: Entry points include Manyani, Voi, Buchuma, and Sala Gates.
🌿 Tsavo West National Park
- Size: 9,065 sq.km
- Landscape: More rugged and lush than its eastern counterpart, with rolling hills, Mzima Springs, swamps, and Lake Jipe.
- Wildlife: Home to iconic African species—elephants, black rhinos, lions, leopards, hippos, and a dazzling variety of birds. Keep an eye out for smaller creatures like bush babies and lesser kudus.
- Access: Enter through Mtito Andei, Man Eaters, Chyulu, or Maktau Gates.
